Scripture Focus

"He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might He increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint."— Isaiah 40:29-31

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits… who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."— Psalm 103:2,5

Devotional Reflection

Weariness comes for all of us. The exhaustion of waiting, enduring, striving, and hoping can feel overwhelming. There are seasons where strength feels like a distant memory, where even taking one more step feels impossible.

But the promise of God is clear: those who wait on Him will be renewed.

Isaiah gives us the image of an eagle—soaring, strong, lifted above the chaos below. Unlike birds that must constantly flap their wings, eagles ride the wind, allowing the unseen air currents to carry them higher. This is what waiting on the Lord looks like. It is not passive; it is an active dependence on God, allowing His strength to lift us rather than relying on our own.

If you feel weary today, take heart. Your strength is not in your own effort—it is in the Lord. He is the one who renews, who strengthens, and who lifts you up to soar above the weight of exhaustion. Wait on Him, and He will sustain you.

Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust

Breath Prayer: (Inhale) Lord, You renew my strength. (Exhale) I trust in Your sustaining power.

How to Practice a Breath Prayer:

Take slow, deep breaths. As you inhale, receive God’s promise of renewal. As you exhale, release your exhaustion and lean into His strength.

Practical Application

  • Recognize Your Weary Places. Identify where you feel drained—physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Bring it before the Lord in prayer.

  • Shift Your Dependence. Instead of pushing through in your own strength, practice waiting on God through scripture meditation, worship, and rest.

  • Soar, Don’t Strive. Like the eagle, learn to rest in God’s power rather than relying on your own. Surrender control and let Him carry you.

Journal Prompt

Where do you feel weary right now? How might waiting on the Lord renew your strength in this season?

Closing Prayer

Father, I come before You weary and in need of renewal. Thank You that I do not have to carry this weight alone. Teach me to wait on You, to trust in Your strength, and to soar like an eagle in Your sustaining power. When I am weak, remind me that You are my strength. Amen.
