"My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ." – Colossians 2:2
Devotional Reflection
Love strengthens not only individuals but entire communities. In Colossians 2:2, Paul expresses his desire for believers to be encouraged in heart and united in love. He knew that love is more than a feeling—it is a bond that brings encouragement, fosters unity, and leads us deeper into the knowledge of Christ.
We often think of strength in terms of resilience or power, but in God’s kingdom, love is our greatest strength. It unites what is divided, heals what is broken, and encourages what is weary. When we love one another deeply, we create communities where hearts are lifted and faith is strengthened.
This kind of love is active—it listens, serves, and forgives. It is the love of Christ working through us to bring encouragement to those around us. Today, consider how you can be a source of strength to someone else through your love and presence.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Breath Prayer: (Inhale) Strengthen me in Your love…(Exhale) That I may encourage others.
How to Practice a Breath Prayer: Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to settle your heart. As you inhale, pray, “Strengthen me in Your love…” and as you exhale, “That I may encourage others.” Repeat for 2–5 minutes, allowing God’s love to fill and steady you.
Practical Application
Encourage Someone Today: Reach out to someone with a message of encouragement—whether through a call, text, or prayer.
Foster Unity: Seek to promote peace and understanding in a challenging situation by choosing love and grace.
Be Present in Love: Sometimes, the greatest encouragement is simply showing up. Offer your time and support to someone who may be feeling alone or weary.
