"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus." – 1 John 4:16-17
Devotional Reflection
To be perfected in love is not to love perfectly, but to be fully formed by God’s perfect love. In 1 John 4:16-17, we are reminded that God is love, and when we abide in Him, His love completes its work in us. This love is more than knowledge—it is a transformative force that reshapes our hearts, actions, and relationships.
As His love is made complete in us, we begin to reflect Christ in the world. We love with compassion, forgive with grace, and serve with joy. Fear loses its grip because we are anchored in the assurance of His unfailing love.
The journey of being perfected in love is not about striving—it is about abiding. It is about living daily in the presence of Love Himself and allowing His Spirit to do the refining work within us. Over time, this abiding love produces confidence: confidence in who we are, confidence in our purpose, and confidence before God—because His love has made us whole.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Breath Prayer: (Inhale) Perfect me in Your love…(Exhale) And make me more like You.
How to Practice a Breath Prayer: Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to settle your heart. As you inhale, pray, “Perfect me in Your love…” and as you exhale, “And make me more like You.” Repeat for 2–5 minutes, allowing God’s love to fill and transform your heart.
Practical Application
Abide in Love: Spend time in God’s presence today—through prayer, worship, or scripture—simply resting in His love without striving.
Reflect Christ’s Love: Look for an opportunity to show Christlike love today—whether through a kind word, a generous act, or a moment of grace.
Release Fear: Identify one fear that is holding you back. Surrender it to God, remembering that His perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18).
