Scripture Focus
“Be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”
— Ephesians 4:23–24 (ESV)
Devotional Reflection
Every day is full of small resets—the moment you wake up, a pause between tasks, a deep breath before a hard conversation. These moments aren’t insignificant. They are opportunities to put on the new self again and again.
Paul’s language in Ephesians is active: renewal doesn’t just happen to us; we participate in it. We choose to let old patterns go. We choose to fill our minds with what is true. We choose to remember we are new creations in Christ.
This isn’t about striving for a “perfect mindset.” It’s about living aware that the Holy Spirit is present and ready to reshape your thoughts, right in the middle of your ordinary day.
When you reset your thoughts toward God, you are not pretending everything is fine—you are aligning with the One who makes you new.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Every moment is a chance to think again—this time as someone made new.
Breath Prayer
Inhale: Renew my mind, Lord.
Exhale: Make me new again.
How to Practice a Breath Prayer
Pause at three natural transitions today—morning, midday, and evening. Take one deep breath and pray these words. Picture yourself taking off the “old self” and putting on the “new self” with each pause.
Practical Application
Write down one “old self” thought that has been shaping your day—maybe shame, fear, or self-reliance. Next to it, write a “new self” truth from Scripture. Carry that truth with you today as a reset.
Journal Prompt
What old ways of thinking am I being invited to leave behind? What new truths is God asking me to put on instead?
Closing Prayer
God who renews,
Thank You that I am not stuck in old patterns.
Help me recognize the moments when I can pause, breathe, and reset.
Remind me of who I am in You—
new, holy, and beloved.
Let my thoughts reflect the reality of Your Spirit at work in me. Amen.
Invitation to Live with Truth, Goodness, and Beauty
You can always begin again. Let your thoughts be renewed—not by trying harder, but by remembering you are already new in Christ.
