"But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." – Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
Devotional Reflection
In a world filled with endless distractions and competing priorities, Jesus offers a clear call: seek first His kingdom and His righteousness. This isn’t about neglecting your needs or goals but trusting that when you prioritize God’s will, everything else will fall into place.
Seeking God’s kingdom means aligning your heart with His purposes. It’s an intentional choice to let His truth, goodness, and beauty shape your actions and decisions. When you pursue His righteousness, you’re inviting His presence to transform every area of your life.
This journey requires faith and focus. It’s a daily decision to look beyond temporary concerns and fix your eyes on what is eternal. Today, reflect on how you can seek God’s kingdom first and trust Him to provide for your every need.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Breath Prayer: (Inhale) “I seek first Your kingdom, Lord…”(Exhale) “…and trust You with my needs.”
How to Practice a Breath Prayer: Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to settle your mind. As you inhale, silently pray the first part of the phrase (e.g., “I seek first Your kingdom, Lord…”), and as you exhale, pray the second part (e.g., “…and trust You with my needs.”). Repeat the prayer slowly for 2–5 minutes, allowing the rhythm of your breathing to guide your focus.
Practical Application
Reflect on your current priorities.
Identify one area where you can shift your focus to align more closely with God’s kingdom and righteousness.
Make a plan to take one specific action this week that demonstrates your commitment to seeking Him first.
Journal Prompt
What does seeking God’s kingdom first mean in your life right now? Write about one priority you can surrender to align your heart with His purposes.
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for inviting me to seek Your kingdom above all else. Teach me to trust You with my needs and to align my life with Your purposes. Help me to pursue Your righteousness daily, knowing that in You, I will find everything I truly need. May my life reflect Your glory and grace. Amen.
